How would your life change if you could really thrive?
My name is Dr. Rina Bliss, and I research, write, and speak about the personal and social significance of new genetic sciences. My work is centered at the intersection of sociology, psychology, and technology, offering a full-spectrum understanding of how our social worlds shape our personal worlds, affecting the health and quality of our lives.
I believe we all have a responsibility to improve the impact of the external on the internal—our environment on our biology—so we all can hone our unique potential. Contrary to popular belief, intelligence and ability are not fixed at birth. Nor are they determined by our genes. Our brains are constantly growing and changing in response to our reality. Knowing this, we can use our mind to forge connections with our environment and, more importantly, use our environment to forge connections with our mind.
But how do we flip the script? How do we improve our social worlds to eradicate racism, sexism, and other distressing forms of discrimination? With my research, I share the true meaning of phenomena like race and intelligence so we can write a new future where each and every human is equally seen, heard, understood, and valued.
We can change how we see and think about our core values as human beings. We can nurture our awareness of the world around us, hone our perception of inequality, and nurture in ourselves an intelligence that empowers us to grow while enriching our communities.
